After doing some tattooing here and there at the young age of 18. I scored my first job tattooing at a little custom shop called NOSTALGIA TATTOO on the East Side of Downtown Sacramento. That day would be the first time I stepped foot into a tattoo shop, (big shout out to Joel Dodds). Joel hired me that day. after a week or two Joel  came to me and had decided that a better fit for the shop was me being his Apprentice, with a hefty price tag attached of course. You have to understand that back in this time one could not easily acquire reference for tattoos let alone proper tools to do or have a legitimate shot at actual tattooing. I believe that the number of tattoo shops in Sacramento at this time was probably 10 not more than 15 total in Sacramento County. It was intimidating because   I would have never accepted defeat nor give up. This was a stroke of luck because I was brought into the Tattoo world by a true CUSTOM TATTOOER, In these days that meant something. I learned the ins and outs of the Custom tattoo culture where you; build your tattoo machines, make your needles(every one of them), mix your pigments from true quality powders, Draw by hand every tattoo that comes through the door, and your clientele comes to you by WORD of MOUTH.
